The Dog Daze of Summer

This mornings sunset was amazing. The rising sun illuminated the clouds perfectly with champagne linings. Morning time is my favorite right now because it is the freshest air of the day. Folks around here say next month shall bring in cooler weather and I cannot wait, it's 85 degrees in the morning when I rise. On the home front the kids still have some summer vacation left and we will be taking a trip to the beach tomorrow to celebrate these end of summer moments. It's been a rough one all the way around. We are still new here and miss our old summertime hangs, traditions, and friends and family we celebrated with. My daughters were in tears watching photos of their friends enjoying the beginnings of the school year without them, which in turn has had them angry at me for moving us here.

So on Monday it will be just me and the dogs again. Getting up early is no problem since I rise at 5:00 every morning, make Hubby's lunch and send him off to work. I'm pondering the fact of should I set a daily routine or just go with the flow, it's been a go with the flow lazy hazy summer. My pace has been slow lately, my body has been acting up. If it weren't for my tubal ligation almost 8 years ago, I would think I was pregnant. A slower pace is okay, I try too do to much at lightning speed always. Maybe with this alone time while everyone's at school I will get some projects completed, and conjure up new ones. The seasons are changing and I need to keep charts of the humble bumble activity of the natural elements on the homestead. Bugs, animals, and plants are here for a short stretch and then replaced with different varieties. How are you spending your dog days of summer?

  1. I think you schedule sounds petty perfect. You have been, go, go go for a long while now.
slowing down a little bit might be just what you need:)

  3. That is some magnificent Natural splendor you captured thru the Eye of your lens! I'm probably not doing nearly enough inside during the dog days of Summer where I have to be inside so much of the time due to the heat... I find I just want to languish too much... and so not much is getting done. And when the weather gets better, I'll want to be outside ignoring everything inside... ha ha ha.

  4. I am trying to catch up with your posts. I did see the house and yes it looks very similar to mine, but I didn't have to do all the renovations, thank god, I just dont have the health for that and that was part of the criteria for finding a house, was NO fixer uper. But you are doing amazing, and that bathroom is huge! I have the same tub that some dummy hooked up with a kitchen faucet so I could not run a bath....that took 2 plumbers and a several hundred dollars to change so I could have my hot salt baths. Thank you for visiting my blog and feeling....for me and for you, that was precious. Goddess bless you in your journey and may you find lots of synchronicities and easy tasks, joy in unexpected moments, and peace in all others. warmest hugs. Serena.

  5. These sunset photos are mysterious and beautiful, Holly. I hope your daughters have a good school year, and sorry they got sad missing their old friends. That's hard. Enjoy your alone time while the kids are in school with your projects and taking your wonderful photos. A slow pace can be nice. The world can sometimes be too fast, which can make our heads spin and our bodies act up haha.

    love, ~Sheri
