Let's Get Stranded !

Our last beach trip before the start of school was quit the respite we needed before we got back into the full swing of things starting a new school year. Here we are enjoying the Gulf Coast in Galveston at 8:00 a.m. already sweating, combing the beach for shells, and taking a refreshing dip. After some sand and surf we headed out to discover the Historic Downtown known as "The Strand".

I would love to visit The Strand again , possibly as an overnight date  just me and the Hubby. I didn't get to explore and immerse myself like I would have liked to. We had to head back into town in time to do {L}s Jr High schedule pick up and meet the teachers. So far so good for the kids first week of school. I may get out this weekend and visit a farmers market to get fresh food and some creative inspiration. I've been creating some jewelry and working on dream catchers lately, of which I will post soon. The leaves are drifting down from the trees and there is a promise of some rain in next weeks forecast. I wish everyone a safe and splendid Labor Day weekend.

The Dog Daze of Summer

This mornings sunset was amazing. The rising sun illuminated the clouds perfectly with champagne linings. Morning time is my favorite right now because it is the freshest air of the day. Folks around here say next month shall bring in cooler weather and I cannot wait, it's 85 degrees in the morning when I rise. On the home front the kids still have some summer vacation left and we will be taking a trip to the beach tomorrow to celebrate these end of summer moments. It's been a rough one all the way around. We are still new here and miss our old summertime hangs, traditions, and friends and family we celebrated with. My daughters were in tears watching photos of their friends enjoying the beginnings of the school year without them, which in turn has had them angry at me for moving us here.

So on Monday it will be just me and the dogs again. Getting up early is no problem since I rise at 5:00 every morning, make Hubby's lunch and send him off to work. I'm pondering the fact of should I set a daily routine or just go with the flow, it's been a go with the flow lazy hazy summer. My pace has been slow lately, my body has been acting up. If it weren't for my tubal ligation almost 8 years ago, I would think I was pregnant. A slower pace is okay, I try too do to much at lightning speed always. Maybe with this alone time while everyone's at school I will get some projects completed, and conjure up new ones. The seasons are changing and I need to keep charts of the humble bumble activity of the natural elements on the homestead. Bugs, animals, and plants are here for a short stretch and then replaced with different varieties. How are you spending your dog days of summer?

Bedroom Renovations

- Girls Room Before -

- And After -

- Boy Room Before -

- And After -

- Our Room -

No long descriptions on the renovations just the before and after pics. As of yesterday we have been living in Texas for 10 months, it honestly doesn't seem that we have been here that long already. Now that the inside is mostly done, I daydream about painting the house and creating outdoor living spaces. All in due time.

Pre Fall Haul

I'm taking a wee break from the room renovation series to share with you the fall goodies I got while I was out an about in Magnolia. No not Chip & Jo's Magnolia, but the little town centre outside my woods. Though a two hr drive would get us there, should I stop by for a visit?

These  lovelies pictured above we're  found treasures at a thrift store that supports church efforts. My first Texas boots were only $6.00 ! Don't worry y'all I'm not turning hella country on ya, but red boots are sexy and I'm going to rock them with jeans, dresses, and even shorts. The galvenized pail will probably be used for iced drinks  until I get fall decor together.

I usually start Fall and Halloween decorating on Mabon or the first day of Autumn for those unfamiliar with earth based celebrations. These glazed pumpkins we're at the new Dollar Tree in town as well as the candle holder I filled with scented beads. Honestly I can't wait till Fall arrives with it breezes, landscapes, and celebrations. Don't get me wrong I'm still savoring Summer while it last. A little over three more weeks till the kiddos are back in school.

Bathroom Renovations

~ The Kids Bathroom Before ~

Everything but the tub was removed from this bathroom. There was a huge hole near the tub where a rat was living. Yikes, yes the house was delivered with an unwanted guest, and he was a huge sucker. We bought a new toilet, and vanity combo from The Home Depot in cherry wood (not in photo's). The walls were painted Palm Springs Tan, and more silver oak wood laminate was laid. I'm in love with that flooring! On a trip to Target in the Bullseye deals I came across the succulent decor and that brought about the color choices for the bathroom.

~ Our Bathroom Before ~

There was no flooring at all but particle board in here. We did half carpet towards the vanity and shower area , and then laid down more of the silver oak flooring on the other half. The toilet and faucets were replaced, and the back splash was moldy on the sinks so we removed it. I still to this day haven't found what I'm going to replace that with. Palm Spring Tan paint also in this room. And now for the after.....
